Volunteers sought for Operation Dress Code Boutique Day, part of TMF's Operation Legacy

The Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), which is one of the nation's largest veteran non-profit organizations will host more than 100 “Operation Legacy” service projects across the country and around the world in the month of November. Operation Legacy is the fastest growing movement to unite communities across the nation to create positive change, where more than 3,500 participants are expected to volunteer as a way to honor the legacies of our fallen heroes. Each project across the country will be dedicated to a fallen military hero, who will be recognized during the opening ceremony. Select projects will also include a GORUCK component, where following the service project volunteers will ruck two miles or more carrying a weighted backpack.

Operation Dress Code Boutique Day is designed to help women service members transition to new careers by providing them with professional clothing needed for civilian life. Volunteers are needed for shifts during set up day on Friday, November 1st, to assist with unloading the truck, unbagging clothes, sizing clothing racks, setting out shoes and purses, and setting up jewelry tables. Volunteers will also be needed to assist with event breakdown on Saturday, November 2nd, to assist with packing up, bagging clothes, carrying bags, loading the truck, and cleaning up trash and boxes. This project will be honoring the life and legacy of Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician Shannon Kent, Navy. Kent was killed this past January in by a suicide bomber in Syria.

Operation Legacy projects aim to engage veterans, families of the fallen, and civilians alike, by activating them to lead and serve others in their communities. Americans across the country are invited to volunteer with TMF for Operation Legacy, as a way to honor the past and build the future, while exemplifying the strength of America’s national character. All projects have been organized by local volunteers, who are helping to unite the community through service, and encouraging their neighbors to live by the “If Not Me, Then Who…” mantra to spearhead a movement of character, leadership, and selfless service.

(SEAL) Brendan Looney and Vice President of TMF. “By bringing communities together to serve in honor of our fallen heroes, we are not just keeping their legacy alive, we are passing their values along to the next generation of leaders.”
